A member of the Democratic Party, he was appointed to the seat when Senator Ken Salazar became Secretary of the Interior. Bennet previously worked as a managing director for the Anschutz Investment Company, chief of staff to Denver mayor (and his future Senate colleague) John Hickenlooper, and superintendent of Denver Public Schools.

The 2022 United States Senate election in Colorado will be held on November 8, 2022, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of Colorado.

Democratic incumbent Michael Bennet was appointed in 2009 by governor Bill Ritter following the resignation of Ken Salazar to become the Secretary of the Interior under Barack Obama. Bennett first elected in 2010 for his first full term. In his most recent election in 2016, he was re-elected on a second full term with 49.97% of the vote over Republican Darryl Glenn. Bennett is seeking for a third full term.

Joseph (Joe) O’Dea (born January 20, 1962) is an American businessman in the construction industry, and candidate for United States Senator from Colorado. He is the CEO of a Denver-based heavy civil contracting company and O’Dea and his wife Celeste O’Dea are the owners of popular event venues near Mile High Stadium.

One of the event centers, Ironworks, is a property that is more than 100 years old. It was originally occupied by Midwest Steel Company and produced frameworks for many of the buildings that can be seen in downtown Denver today.
